Tractor was imported on steel with no electrics or PTO. Rubber wheels were fabricated in NZ and electrics added and PTO added several years later. Was bought to pull a New Holland 76 baler in Northland. Ever reliable tractor. Alister Anderson wrote on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 (PDT): our South Side neighbour John O'Mara(Bill English's brother in law)had a 47 DEX that his father bought second hand in 1950/1 I used to help him out at times with jobs such as tailing drilling wheat or swedes and haymaking and would normally end up driving her(I'm trying to remember the exact starting routine !)by that time it was used only for towing a 4 wheel trailer a Bamford side rake and belt pully work it went away to preservation some 20 years ago Graham Worsnop wrote on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 (PST): Our DEX was traded in on a Case 530 in 1962 and I herd it got used in some development on the Auckland International Airport (likey doing grassing preparation) and broke the crankshaft. My guess is some younger operator thought it was a bit slow and tied a string on the governer for extra revs. Wouldn't be the first time someone did that to a tractor instead of having a bit of patience.
